The overall width of each framed print is 28.75" high and 35.75" wide. The condition is excellent. Since 1992 they have been hanging in either my office or my house in rooms with no exterior windows to prevent sunlight fading. The rooms were always climate controlled and free of excess moisture. Print #1 - Signed by Zora Arkus-Duntov Legendary Corvette Chief Engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, shown with a first production year 1953 Corvette and a 1963 Grand Sport.
Print #2 - Signed by Larry Shinoda Automotive designer Larry Shinoda with a 1968 production Corvette and the Shinoda designed, trend-setting Rick Mears Special Edition Corvette (RM-1), based on the 1990 Corvette.
Additionally, both prints are personally signed by the artist, Lee Self of Saint Petersburg, Florida (www.selfstudio.com) who was doing artwork for Valvoline in Lexington, Kentucky at the time, whom I personally knew back in ‘90’s.
These are an incredibly special Corvette art print set. They have been in my possession since I purchased them from my older brother who had them created for the National Corvette Museum and he personally witnessed both Mr. Shinoda and Mr. Duntov sign each print in the sets. I had this set of prints professionally museum-quality framed with non-acidic backing and matting, and a high-quality metal frame executed by a local frame shop. The print number on the print set is #40 out of 1,992 (representing the total number of prints created and the year of introduction by the National Corvette Museum).
Zachary "Zora" Arkus-Duntov (December 25, 1909 – April 21, 1996) was a Russian and American engineer whose work on the Chevrolet Corvette earned him the nickname "Father of the Corvette." He was also a racing driver, appearing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times and taking class wins in 1954 and 1955. The first Corvette was designed and constructed by Duntov in 1956.
Larry Shinoda (March 25, 1930 – November 13, 1997) has been strongly associated with the Corvette Sting Ray, the stunning design that debuted in 1963. The Sting Ray set the world on its ear. Few American cars were so instantly recognizable, so clean, and so pure. For the first time in its history, the Corvette staked its own uniquely American ground instead of looking to sports car tradition and Europe for inspiration. Larry played a leading role in the execution of that design-from the original Q Corvette to the 1963 Split Window.
